Client: Fulton Hogan.
Location: Lower Hutt.
Scope of works: This project entailed the renewal of existing sewer and stormwater pipes across various sites within the Knights Road area of Lower Hutt.
Stats: 420m of 150 uPVC sewer up to 3m deep, 174m of 225 uPVC sewer up to 3m deep, and installing 249m of 355OD HDPE stormwater up to 2.5m deep, alongside associated structures.
Challenges: Complex existing services.
Solutions: We leveraged our comprehensive drainage expertise to execute this project effectively. Initially, two sites required shallow sewer replacement, which we managed with our minor drainage crew, allowing our main drainage crew to focus on deeper, more technical works while concurrently handling smaller work packages. This methodology optimised traffic and P&G resources, delivering a cost-effective solution. A critical aspect of the project involved replacing a 36m length of live sewer serving a large local primary school. Collaborating closely with the project management team and engineers, we strategically scheduled these works to minimise disruption to the school and eliminate the need for over-pumping during the operations.
